Westover was a dedicated market where ships arriving with servants and slaves could land and sell their cargos. William Byrd, I imported more Africans during the 1600s than all but one other Virginia planter, making this a place of origins. The first courthouse, church and tavern, also located on Westover, formed the heart of county government. Hear Sister Robinson recollect about her childhood memories of Westover when the Union army arrived.
